Putin Plans To Annex Four Areas In Ukraine
Two serious motorcycle crashes occurred during the 6 o’clock hour on September 28, leaving one dead and one in critical condition following cardiac arrest.
The first, at 6:25 p.m., was a collision between a car and a motorcycle on Endicott Street East in Laconia. The motorcyclist went into traumatic cardiac arrest before a doctor and nurse who were traveling near the crash came upon the scene and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The unidentified victim was transported to Concord Hospital-Laconia.
Little more than a quarter-hour later, at 6:51 p.m., New Hampshire State Police troopers, along with fire and medical personnel from the Bedford Fire Department, responded to a report of a motorcycle crash on the off-ramp of the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Bedford. There they found Craig Faulkner, 57, of Merrimack whose motorcycle left the right side of the road while navigating the curves on the off-ramp, throwing him from the motorcycle. Faulkner sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and succumbed to them after being transported to a local hospital.

Ian Makes Landfall
Hurricane Ian left a path of destruction in southwest Florida, trapping people in flooded homes, cutting off the only bridge to a barrier island, damaging the roof of a hospital intensive care unit, and knocking out power to 2.5 million people as it dumped rain across the peninsula on Thursday, the Associated Press reports.
Ian, which arrived on Florida’s west coast with near Category 5 winds before weakening to a tropical storm, is one of the strongest hurricanes to ever hit the United States. Winds extended outward up to 415 miles, drenching much of Florida and the southeastern Atlantic coast.
Authorities have confirmed at least one storm death in Florida, a 72-year-old man found in a canal behind his home in Deltona, near Daytona Beach. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said it appeared that he was using a hose to drain his pool into the wide canal and fell down an incline that was “extremely soft and slippery due to the heavy rain.”
President Joseph R. Biden Jr. declared the storm to be a major disaster and ordered federal aid to supplement state, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by the hurricane.
Putin Plans To Annex Four Areas In Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to hold a ceremony on Friday, formally annexing the Luhansk and Donetsk areas in eastern Ukraine and Zaporizhzhia and Kherson in the south, following “referendums” that Russian-backed officials had declared had almost total popular support for joining Russia.
Officials allowed no independent monitoring of the vote, and there were accounts of election officials going from door to door, escorted by armed soldiers, to force residents of those regions to participate.
The United States said it will impose sanctions on Russia because of the staged referendums, and member states in the European Union are considering an eighth round of measures, including sanctions on anyone involved in the votes.

I had the sad experience of coming upon a motorcycle rider after he had crashed. He was not wearing a helmet or any leather, so I cannot imagine there was any hope of his surviving. It seems to me that whether a rider was wearing a helmet should be required reporting in all motorcycle accidents.
