Job Growth Continues, Unemployment At 3.6%
“Arro took the suspect down with a bite,” reports Bristol Police Chief James McIntire.
John Carter, 36, of Hill is facing charges of disobeying a police officer, reckless conduct, reckless operation, resisting arrest, and driving under suspension following a May 4 police chase that ended with Carter fleeing from his disabled pickup truck, running across the softball field at Newfound Regional High school, and jumping fences.
Carter already was facing charges of narcotics possession, wrongful conduct after an accident, driving after suspension, theft, operating an unregistered vehicle, misuse of plates, disobeying police, and resisting arrest — so when police took up pursuit of his truck on River Road, he sped off, “passing several cars and dump trucks at high rate of speed,” according to McIntire.
Alexandria, Danbury, New Hampton, and State Police joined in the chase, with those positioned ahead of Carter’s truck deploying spike strips, which caused his tires to go flat. That is when he leaped from the vehicle and ran toward the high school, resulting in the building being placed under lockdown until Arro apprehended him, and Carter was taken into custody with further incident.
After being evaluated at Concord-Franklin Hospital, Carter was held at the Merrimack County Department of Corrections jail.

Today’s jobs report shows the unemployment rate for last month was 3.6%, almost the lowest level it has been in 50 years.
The Associated Press reports that the economy’s hiring gains have been remarkably consistent in the face of the worst inflation in four decades. Employers have added at least 400,000 jobs for 12 straight months.
