Commentary by Jon Swan
I feel compelled to comment on Governor Sununu's #Super603Day campaign, in which he stated via an August 11 twitter post, that “these days aren’t just about showcasing our tourism destinations, but they allow me to get out on the road and talk to businesses and families about what they’re seeing and how we can do things better for NH”.
While that all sounds wonderful, isn’t that what the Department of Business and Economic Affairs was created for? Sadly, I feel this effort by our gluttonous governor, as he eats his way thru the Granite State, while sharing it on social media, is nothing more than a self-serving promotional campaign for his 2022 run for the U.S. Senate. In fact, his galloping gourmet tours, of all of the wonderful places to eat in the Granite State, serve to highlight the fact that he continues to ignore the pleas of North Country property and business owners.
We have attempted, for over two years now, to arrange a meeting in order to share concerns about the mega-landfill development next to Forest Lake State Park. Not once has he attempted to arrange a meeting with us, even while he was in the North Country, filling his face at various eateries! Therefore, in order to garner that desired meeting with Gluttonor Sununu, we are now offering to have it fully catered, so as to ensure he does not miss a meal.
Gluttonor Sununu is not going to win many North Country votes in 2022 if he continues to ignore our concerns about Casella's dangerous, unwanted, and unneeded landfill development next to Forest Lake State Park! As time will prove, not only does the Gluttonor have no pants, he’s going to need larger ones by the time he is done campaigning for the U.S. Senate. If the North Country is to become a sacrificial zone for out-of-state trash, we will make sure every voter in New Hampshire is aware of our efforts, and his disinterest, to try and save Forest Lake.
This is very personal, as we feel that our rights, as property owners, citizens, and taxpayers, have been completely ignored by leadership in Concord. As stated in Game of Thrones, “The North Remembers”.
Thank You!

Newfound Imposes Mask Requirements
Superintendent Pierre Couture explained the Newfound Area School District’s reluctance to impose a mask mandate but said the rising number of COVID-19 cases has made it necessary.
Parents attending the Aug. 9 meeting of the Newfound Area School Board had called for parental choice in the matter of mask-wearing with some saying the masks are ineffective and others saying the district should not be dictating personal health decisions.
Couture had told the group that the district would not mandate the wearing of masks unless the virus cases increased. The first case appeared at the high school on the first day of school, and the district currently has nine students who have been exposed to the coronavirus — three on Monday alone.
