Bicycle Race Ends In Tragedy
The 40th annual Concord Criterium, a 21-mile bicycle race led by the Sunapee Racing Team, ended in tragedy last weekend. Evan Barr-Beare, a 33-year-old Rhode Island scientist, veered off the one-mile course in White Park and crashed at the end of the race.
He had broken away from the pack of about 50 men, and was leading by 45 seconds, when he crashed and died.
Originally from Ohio, Barr-Beare was a staff scientist at the Mouse Transgenic and Gene Targeting Facility at Brown University, where he had worked since 2019. He didn’t own a car, and got around Providence on a bike, according to the Concord Monitor.
Newfound Schools ‘Back To Normal’
The Newfound Area School Board has approved a reopening plan that allows students to return to in-person classes without masks.
Superintendent Pierre Couture said cases of COVID-19 are rare in the seven towns comprising the school district, and that school nurses are confident that a normal reopening will be possible.
He noted that, should cases increase again, it may be necessary to reimpose the mask mandate and other measures aimed to keeping the staff and students safe.

Newfound School District had their School Board meeting this last Monday 8/09/21 to approve the re-opening plan. There were about 15 people in attendance to address that the Students should not wear masks. The plan was approved which included masks will not be required this school year, BUT… if an issue arises then the Superintendent has the option to make the Students wear masks.
I attending this meeting standing up for our kids and requested the SB and Superintendent NEVER require our kids to EVER wear a mask again. Other parents said similar things and quoted different studies against wearing masks. It is a shame that more parents did not come out and tell the SB how damaging the masks have been and the psycological effect had on our kids. Fifteen people cannot do it all, all of us must stand up for the kids in our community/district.
The District should be teaching our kids and we need to be parenting. Masks don’t work because kids being kids will never wear them correctly 100 percent of the time and science has proven the molecules are so tiny, they pass through the masks.
Stop this nonsense and tell the School District that your child will never wear a mask again unless you say they will.
On another note, I had only two SB members Bristol/New Hampton state they are against CRT [critical race theory] being taught. The other SB members would not even reply to my email (keep this in mind when it comes time to vote in March). The Superintendent also assured me that CRT is not being taught and has no plans to teach it and it is not being taught by any other name.
