Wolfeboro Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash
Upon hearing that many interested parties have met with CBRE, the marketing agent for the former Laconia State School property, Executive Councilor Joe Kenney (R-Wakefield) asked for a timeline on the sale. Governor Chris Sununu supported giving bidders 60 days to come up with a sales proposal for the property which also once served as a New Hampshire State Prison correctional facility.
Charlie Arlinghaus, commissioner of Administrative Services, said the state is preparing a call for offers that asks bidders to come up with a proposal and concept for reuse of the property. Among the possible plans for reuse is that of Department of Safety Commissioner Robert Quinn, who wants to trade a section of the property currently housing the state’s E-911 service and the Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid Association for a 10-acre hayfield at the corner of Meredith Center Road and Lane Road, across the street from the Robbie Mills Sports Complex, to house a new $10 million dispatch center.
Laconia City Manager Scott Myers and the city council have expressed agreement with the Executive Council’s vote to swap the two properties prior to the sale of the core area of the 100-acre state school property.
Amber Alert On Missing Somersworth Children
The state has issued an Amber Alert for two missing children, Alaina and Chance Wilson, believed to have been abducted by their biological mother, 32-year-old Keileigh Nichols, on June 16. The children, ages 11 and 8, were last seen at their grandmother’s residence at 93 Colonial Village Park in Somersworth, around 7:30 p.m. The grandmother has custody of the children, as their mother has drug addiction and mental health problems, according to New Hampshire State Police.
In issuing the Amber Alert, police said the children appear to have been taken from the residence through a window, with Alaina’s phone being left behind on her bed. Police confirmed that Kaileigh Nichols had taken a gray Honda Civic with veteran’s plates from a relative in Maine and was seen in that vehicle at a school event in Somersworth during the day on Thursday.
Kayleigh Nichols is described as being a white female with brown hair and brown eyes, weighing 125 pounds. The 2009 vehicle had a Maine license plate, 2827A.
